A huge majority of the immigration aspirants drop their dream of migrating to Canada or even choose another easier country after they fail to score well in the IELTS assessment. Understand the Blueprint:

Before you start preparing for the test, you must understand the layout of the assessment completely. IELTS assesses a candidate on 4 parameters reading, writing, listening, and speaking, with a time allotment of 30, 60, 60, and 15 minutes respectively. The listening and reading test has 40 questions to answer whereas the writing has 2 questions.

Understand in-depth the format of the exam

Practice, Practice, Practice- as much as possible with Proper Time management :

Sometimes we assume that understanding the test pattern and a few hours of practice would be sufficient to crack the exam with a good score, but this is far from reality because an insightful understanding of the language is what requires to ace the exam, for which a significant amount of preparation is needed. Time is the ‘great barrier’ here. Though one acquires the skill to handle a particular set of questions, doing it inside the given time limit is the challenge. For example, for the reading test, there are 40 questions and 60 minutes. Leaving 5-10 minutes as a buffer time to recheck your answer, you get a total of 50-55 minutes for 40 questions which ideally leaves you with a little above 1 minute for each question. Practise is the only way you can equip yourself to face this situation.

Getting training from an IELTS coach or expert will help you tremendously to prepare yourself to take the exam with control over time. For example, Visualising the questions and scenarios will give you a confusion-free thinking space for finding the answers, and Checking the answer individually or collectively will help you avoid losing marks mistakenly. There are plenty of strategies out there, as general and specific for tests. Having all the needed strategies under your belt will indeed pay off.
